Raised in Coventry, UK artist Mac Backwardz aims to shock the system with his signature blend of versatile rhyme schemes, complex lyricism and double time flows. Backwardz has already created waves in a variety of genres as he continues to experiment with UK Rap, Hip-Hop, Grime, Jazz and UK Bass.
Growing up on US Hip Hop and Rap, Mac Backwardz developed a love for the genres that would later form his own musical style, however it wasn't until the early 2000's when he first discovered what would now be universally known as Grime, that he decided he could follow in the footsteps of his favourite MC's.
Finding his voice in the late 2010's and gaining confidence in his abilities, Mac Backwardz released his first mixtape in 2014 which helped him catapult to the forefront of the South West underground music scene, performing at shows across multiple venues in Plymouth and Bristol under the AndWhat&? banner supporting some of the biggest names in the UK Hip Hop scene before branching out to perform in places like Southampton, Coventry, Birmingham, London and Oxfordshire.
Since 2019 Mac Backwardz has been associated with TULU Presents, who have helped him hone his craft and develop his sound even further to create something truly unique. Under TULU, Mac has had the chance to perform at shows all across the country and gain newer fans, allowing his music to spread further than ever before as well as gain vital knowledge of the ins and outs of the music industry.
