Polar Youth , also known as Elisabeth Verstraete, is a self-taught producer, beatmaker and
multi-instrumentalist from Ghent, Belgium. She picked up the guitar at the age of 9 and
started producing at the age of 12. Through the years she started to develop her own
musical style, now known by many as ''Electronica meets Hip Hop''. In 2014, when she
started releasing music under this alias, she immediately got a lot of attention from
overseas. The same year she was awarded as ''most promising artist'' at the Red Bull
Elektropedia awards in Belgium. It opened many doors for her and since then has worked
together with many national and international artists, like the well-known British DJ and
producer DJ Fresh being one of them. But also with labels such as Sony Music, Universal
Music, UKF and Warner Music to name a few.
In 2019 she released her debut EP 'Lost & Found' featuring American artists Lani Rose,
EMIA, Sangstaa and Trent The Hooligan but also with Belgian artists Fortress and
Wayi. All of this gave her the opportunity to perform in cities like Paris, Montpellier, Milan
and many in Belgium.
