Above the Arctic Circle during Norway’s season of darkness (aka “mørketiden”), a chance encounter between an American and a Norwegian spawned a transatlantic musical labor of love called The Familiar. Working together exclusively via email and texts, the duo of native New Yorker Ruth Mirsky (ex The Drums) and producer Mads Martinsen, who was born and bred in Tromsø, Norway, is the northern lights meeting the skyscrapers of New York.
