One of the most impactful duos in hip hop's underground is back in 2026 as Blu and Exile have unveiled their gripping new single "Soul Unusual".
In high school, Blu and Exile's debut project Below the Heavens was constantly in rotation, and it's beautiful to see that almost a decade later that the pair are still at it! Exile's production on "Soul Unusual" is minimal yet full of flavor and emotion, thanks to the tasteful sampling and the raw, snappy drums. Furthermore, Blu's subject matter throughout his thoughtful songwriting is heightened by Exile's scratching, giving the track a classic boom-bap edge that reinforces the emotion behind every bar. I can suspect that this is the first single from an upcoming album that Blu & Exile are releasing.
