Calan Mai is a moniker of the Australian artist Jordan Lawrence. To be honest, I was not too surprised that he was an Aussie when I first researched the singer. Even though he is currently based in Manchester, I still get the typical laid-back Aussie vibe from his music.
The track is very simple and gentle, and it's a great mix of folk and subtle electronic production. Even though the music is fairly simple, the track itself is very emotionally charged through its lyrics. As Calan Mai has explained himself it's the song about being alone, so he involved a bunch of friends to produce the track. Makes sense. This is your perfect coffee break soundtrack: not too demanding, but extremely pleasant to the ear.
