I randomly found Cézanne about a year ago and was mesmerized by her ethereal & warm vocals. The Amsterdam singer, who I аlso had the pleasure to meet in person last week, floats on the line between indie, soul, folk & jazz - a blend that she made uniquely hers.
Coincidentally, Cézanne just unveiled her debut album Sunflower Child last Friday, out via Dontaku Records. The 8-piece record tells a story of "growth, healing, and reconnecting with the inner child, moving from darkness to light". It was produced in collaboration with Boudewijn Pleij (who works with .multibeat, GINGE, etc.)
One of my favorite pieces, and the album focus track, is "Underneath This Tree", a stripped-down, guitar & piano-driven indie-folk song that feels like a warm hug. The gentle instrumentation lets Cézanne's layered vocals shine - a sure recipe for getting yourself into a dream state.
