In fact, this appears to be the sonic direction he’s embracing for his upcoming project Cherry, with Prince’s influence shining through on this track and the previous singles. From the instrumental to the vocals, what stands out about "Midnight Love" is the stellar musicality displayed throughout. The bass and the drums carry the groove, while funk-inspired trumpet arrangements splash color onto the mix alongside the glittery guitar works. I also loved how the vocals were able to be dance-friendly and simultaneously groovy throughout the experience!
