My favourite days are corto.alto release days!

“IJUSTIDONTKNOW” is the latest single taken from corto.alto's forthcoming album SOME SMALL FORTUNE, set for release on September 4th via Ninja Tune. The track features Glasgow saxophonist Mateusz Sobieski who, along with being a mainstay across a number of album tracks, is also Shortall’s fellow co-founder of GLITCH41, one of Glasgow's most raucous and popular live music nights.

I don't know how, but I think any fans of the Glasgow-based producer & multi-instrumentalist and his music would instantly recognise his sound upon first hearing. The bold, expansive rhythms, bass & synth grooves, slick horn arrangements and raspy saxophone features are a signature mark of his music for me, combined with the super polished production, and this tune is no exception.

“This is one of the first tracks I wrote for SOME SMALL FORTUNE. “IJUSTIDONTKNOW” is also one of the few songs on the album without a featured artist. I really loved exploring the space between heavier-than-usual guitar riffs, big hip-hop grooves and electronica on this one. It became an early blueprint for the sound of the record," shares Shortall.
