corto.alto always finds a way to level up with every release, and "NOBLEHILL" has to be one of my favourites so far.
On "NOBLEHILL", Liam Shortall collaborates with Jacob Alon - award-winning fellow Scottish musician and vocalist, whose singing has the power of reaching the deepest corners of anyone's soul. Calming, yet energetic and restless; intimate, yet lush and expansive - the song beautifully encapsulates some of the record’s central themes around family, location and memory and just brings it all.
“I wanted to write songs with artists that I love and have a proper collaboration with them, rather than be a control freak,” Liam says. “That’s why I reached out to someone like the amazing Scottish songwriter Jacob Alon, and Mick Jenkins, who I’ve listened to forever, as well as a shapeshifter like BINA.. I’m entering a different world with this music.”
