It's been quite dark lately and if you live anywhere considered "north", then the struggle can be especially real. Quite often, music is the vehicle that carries me through the days that don't permit any sunshine.

Off of Daily Bread's latest album The Darkness Before Dawn comes just the remedy for those dark, rainy days.

I actually thought this one would be depressing judging from the track title alone, but that outlook changed by the end. It opens up with bluesy guitar riffs combined with samples that give it a somber feel.

I am impressed by the progression of the song, especially how layered flute and keys are introduced, which gave me a moment of sunshine. On top of that, the touch of wobbly, funky synths throughout produce that electro soul sound that I love.

In the end, the creative stitching of samples and upbeat instrumentation left me feeling appreciative of the moments of sunshine-induced clarity we experience during those almost endlessly dark months.
