DAWSON's newest release with Nathan Haines "Secrets" stands as one of my favorite jazz house finds this year thanks to the lush soundscapes and the tasteful rhythm section.
DAWSON, the new project from New Zealand producer Ethan Jupe, merges organic house grooves with soft jazz’s soulful charm. The drums on "Secrets" borrows from Latin rhythms, diverging from common 4/4 tropes you would usually find in the modern sphere of jazz house. This is accompanied by dreamy pads and the presence of uplifting sax embellishments from the legendary Nathan Haines. Towards the second half, the track blooms to life as more percussion adds color to the mix and textures intertwine seamlessly.
