This is my first encounter with the work of Deante' Hitchcock, and I must say throughout his songwriting, he has given us quite a lot to digest on his new track "Pretty Things".
Atlanta-based Deante' Hitchcock is a skilled rapper whose recordings appeal to broad audiences without sacrificing his artistic impulse. This is evident on "Pretty Things" as he dives into subjects and questions we all ponder, yet in a manner that feels deeply personal, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant. The glistening harmonies floating in the backdrop heighten the soulful feel of the track while the drums offer a stark contrast with their raw, unpolished charm. What's also interesting is that the cover art is imbued with color, yet his lyrics have this murky tone to them, especially towards the end when he dives into the subject of death.
