As far as flawless melodic chillhop is concerned, Devon Rea's music always hits the spot. The latest release of Texas-based multi-instrumentalist and producer called "Beacon" sounds minimal and laid-back, but the more you listen, the more sound layers catch your ear.
The subtle foley textures fill the gaps between the warm woody percussion hits giving the track a continuous groove. Despite being positioned a bit further away in the mix, the soothing emotional sax still somehow sounds prominent enough to liven up the whole track. Along with the pleasant e-piano harmony and the uplifting bells, these elements make the track a true chillhop earworm, in a true Devon Rea fashion.
