Here comes the epitome of a dream team.
Dinner Party, the project of Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, and 9th Wonder, announced their new album Watchu Bringing? (due Aug 7th), and blessed us with the first taste of it.
"If It Aint Broke (Love Wins)" lands on the sweet intersection where jazz and r&b/neo-soul meet, thanks to those legends' superb musical abilities, and the vocals of their frequent collaborator, US singer Phoelix. Majestic keys, slick guitars, the warmest horns, and the catchiest drum groove, underneath honeyed vocals. Not much more can one ask for.
A cool fact is that the artwork is created by Kamasi’s sister, Amani Washington.
This is the follow-up to their EPs Dinner Party and Dinner Party: Dessert (2020) and Enigmatic Society (2023).
