As soon as I heard Elf Traps, I knew I had found something special.
The project is the brainchild of Rob Turner (formerly of GoGo Penguin) and Liviu Gheorghe (formerly of Matthew Halsall), born out of creative restlessness and a deep friendship to explore a wild, improvisation-driven sound world where acoustic drums, robotic percussion machines, and synths collide and interact in real time. That alone should give you enough hype curiosity to be excited about the future of Elf Traps.
"Harp E" gave me a strong Bibio vibe, mixed with the kind of free jazztronica, which felt very similar to my label mate EVDN. The duo does not abide by conventional rules, which gives their music the ability to conjure all kinds of emotions in me.
I feel free and I'm in love.
