I love curating our ADHD Focus Mode playlist, and making sure it stays up-to-date has given me a solid excuse to spend more and more time dwelling in the depths of experimental electronic, ambient, and drone music. Something I've been postponing for years. Today, I wanted to celebrate the work of Emily A. Sprague - LA-based synthesist, songwriter, and sound designer, also known for her work with indie folk 4-piece band Florist.
Emily's name came on my radar in 2025, thanks to an interview she did with Stephan Kunze on his zensounds platform. Ever since, I've tried to slowly explore her works, and I consider the 2017 Water Memory absolutely phenomenal sonic experience.
Following her 2025 album Cloud Time, Emily seems to have tapped into a pretty much endless well of creative energy. She’s already gearing up for whatever comes next, and over the summer, we’ve been lucky enough to get a few little glimpses of it through "Double Moon", "Sing To", and now today’s spotlight, "Noon Liquid One". Listening to the track feels like being part of the Starship Enterprise crew and exploring deep space. Curious, scary, and calming at the same time.
Her album, Cyano, is scheduled for release on October 2nd, and yes - it is on our Upcoming Albums of 2026 excitement list.
