Always lovely to hear jazz flute, especially when this masterfully performed!
"Grazie Ragazzi" is the joyous first single from Melbourne-born, London-based flautist, composer and producer Erica Tucceri’s debut album Route 96. Rooted in contemporary jazz but drawing from broken beat, psychedelia and dancefloor culture, the track pairs fiery flute improvisation with rich synth textures, driving percussion and bruk-influenced rhythms. Born from an improvised jam at Melbourne institution Section 8, it captures the energy and collective release of the city’s first nights out following lockdown, offering a vibrant introduction to Erica’s percussive, groove-led sound.
Absolutely impressive flute improvisations, infectious grooves, and goosebumps energy. And honestly, seeing a seven-minute-long track in this day and age is quite refreshing. In a world built around short attention spans and fast consumption, “Grazie Ragazzi” takes its time to fully bloom, and it absolutely deserves it. There’s so much variation in the atmospheres, textures, and feels throughout that it becomes a fully cohesive, immersive journey, one that I wish lasted even longer.
