If you're like me, then your day gets infinitely better when you find an awesome new band that you've never heard of. I found this five-piece out of Brooklyn the other night on Soundcloud, and I haven't stopped listening yet. Their name is Gondola, and their folk jam "We Are The Map" is perfect for any of your summer outings, whether it's actually sitting in a gondola and floating on a river or just laying out at night looking at the stars.
"We Are The Map" is reminiscent of some of my favorite bands of all time, including Noah & The Whale (on their first album) and Family Of The Year. Male and female harmonies and a light and fun tune are just some of the aspects that makes me think of these bands. They take this a step forward, adding some brass into the last minute or so of the song, evolving the track from just a simple folk song to something almost cinematic. "We Are The Map" is truly worthy of your listen.
The band are currently offering a four track 7" on their Bandcamp for the very, very (in)expensive price of $4.
