A few days ago, I celebrated one of the most anticipated albums of the year on my list - Indonesian 5-piece I Talk Too Much When I'm Drunk's self-titled debut album.
Spanning across genres and emotions, the record is anchored by the breezy and soulful melodies crafted by Miguel (keys), Samji (guitar), Piyush (bass), and Adit (programming), and the oozing vocals of vocalist Tan Sian Ling and her melancholic yet soothing energy.
The album's opener, "Be My Love", gives a strong 80s vibe, especially when the sax gently kicks in, but not before the hazy keys have managed to create the chillest foundation possible. The whole song feels like a trip back in time and brings back memories of endless summers, bike rides, and watching movies on VHS. What a warm way to start the record.
If you want to explore the 8-track I Talk Too Much When I'm Drunk debut, I also recommend tracks like "I Love Too Much When I'm Drunk" which feels on the opposite spectrum of "Be My Love".
