Californian native Kiefer follows up from his 2018 album Happysad with his third full feature release Superbloom. The producer & pianist, who also forms part of Mndsgn's live band, stays true to his signature jazzy form on this EP.
Whilst featured tracks such as "Golden" & "10,000 Days" are much more Hip-Hop orientated affairs (the Slum Village / J Dilla influence clear on both), it’s the penultimate track of the EP, "Be Encouraged" that really grabbed my attention.
It trades in some of the heavier beats found elsewhere on the release ("Frozen" representing a clear contrast), and gives center stage to some incredible piano playing. Subtle, haunting and my personal favourite from the EP. Check it out for yourself!
