Toronto-based singer, songwriter, producer, and designer Liam Sanagan create songs that like small worlds. “Screaming,” the lead track from his recently released album Heaven Mix / Earth Mix (Oct 17th), feels like one of those small worlds. Intimate, peculiar, and beautifully suspended, it's the kind of synthy alt bedroom pop that reminded me of DIIV, Cigarettes After Sex and Beach House, but with its own quiet gravity.
I'm writing this in the early hours of the day and for some reason "Screaming" feels like standing under a flickering streetlight at 5AM, feeling in complete control of the surrounding city ambiance, simply because I'm all alone. A great track to spend reflecting on things said and done. I write less personal things than I used to, but to be completely honest, I feel I'm going through a really stressful period in my life and this is the kind of remedy I needed. Delicate, haunting, and quietly addictive.
Also, random, but I felt like highlighting how much I love album's artwork and how perfectly it fits in the mood of the track.
