Lewisham-lad Richie Matembo is a new name on me, but man this guy delivers an impression that's in stark contrast to his unique writing style - and that's not where the contradictions end either.
MTMBO has a way of creating sound that I can only describe as a kind of stealth-soul. Within the first 10-20 seconds of "The Hill", you're like "oh, nice - fresh, chilled", yet by the end of the track the emotion and sway has kind of tip-toed up on your consciousness to the point where you're not sure what you were doing for the last 4 minutes or so - you're left in a kind of emotion-stained limbo, just jibbering into your laptop.
A truly original, captivating sound and I can't wait to hear more.
