Anonymity is always intriguing. When I first heard the original version of PATRÌCE's "Smoke & Mirrors" a couple of months ago, I asked all the normal questions; who is this guy, where is he from, does he have any other songs and why haven't I heard of him before? Surprisingly, despite my intrigue, all I managed to unveil was that he was a London based musician; not a lot to go on at all. Behind the mystery there was undoubtedly an excellent debut single, and now thanks to yet another completely unknown producer FÜCHSE, (the German word for 'Fox') we have an equally brilliant, re-energised remix of "Smoke & Mirrors" to feast our ears upon.

Retaining PATRÌCE's spellbinding vocals, the FÜCHSE edit raises the original's tempo slightly, gifting the song a super-smooth and danceable beat that makes you want to get up and move. The other significant change from the original is the enhanced xylophone line. Whereas in the original, the funky xylophone line only permeates the track from a distance, FÜCHSE alternatively brings it to the forefront of his remix, showing it off in all its groovy glory, a move which I think really makes this track wonderful.
