Seeing Collard team up with S. Fidelity is a brilliant surprise - it feels like a case of two distinct musical worlds colliding with effortless passion and energy.
Their collaboration "Glass on the Floor" is taken from S. Fidelity's latest album, I Guess I'll Never Learn, a body of work heavily influenced by indie, r&b, jazz, and a bit of hip hop. This track is among the most minimal in terms of S. Fidelity's production, and this gives enough room for Collard's uplifting yet heartwrenching vocals to pierce through the mix. When the strings make their presence felt, the whole experience becomes a lot more soulful, especially since this complements the soulful, haunting performance of Collard. Towards the second half, glistening piano arrangements flesh out the skeletal structure of the track - a presence which feels like a resolution to the tension that was building throughout.
