This Christmas me and my gf started a new presents system that I hope lives on for a long, long time. From now one we'll just gift ourselves vinyl records. We walked into a local record store (TABA Records) and picked a record for each other (without seeing what the other person has picked of course).

I got her a Kamaal Williams record and she got me the best and most obscure downtempo / electronic / lounge act I've heard in forever. She did play me the album on her phone before revealing the actual record and over the days before Christmas I fell in love with what turned out to be Sunjunkie's Two Decades.

Boy, what a collection of sounds this is! I dug the Internets to find any info about who's behind this, but so far in vein. The release has just a few thousands of plays on Spotify and Sunjunkie has barely any social media presence. There's a short description that accompanies the music across platforms, but that's all.

Named and inspired by witnessing the art of soundtracking sunsets in ibiza over the last 20 years, the album provides a range of tracks which effortlessly cross genres from ambient to jazz to trip hop while managing to keep the whole thing a full & rewarding listening experience.

Two Decades is a wonderful and care-free trip designed to showcase the listener how beautifully interconnected genres could be.
