Long-awaited, threetwenty's debut LP, separate from the noise, graced our ears just a few days before the holidays kick in. I appreciate people who still drop new music even though December is supposed to be "quiet" - that leaves me more time to focus on some meaningful projects, and they certainly make music that is nothing short of meaningful.
threetwenty consists of Nigerian-American singer Ivana Nwokike and her husband, Swedish producer Filip Hunter. While I've been following them since April, I've been well-aware of their adventures in the music space, as Ivana was previously part of VanJess. Their sound sounds like a safe haven in times where finding smooth, head-bopping r&b and neo-soul isn't as easy as it used to be.
Released via their own label (New Century Sound), separate from the noise, spans across 10 lush tracks and as the title suggests, it is their way of staying locked-in, away from all the craze we live in. My pick for the day is "fruit" - I absolutely love the '90s Soulquarians vibe of the track, so it felt like a great way to start my Friday. That, and a cup of coffee.
If you dig this sound, drop by our Lush Vibes playlist. You won't regret it.
