Even though I am from Russia, I know close to nothing about the music scene back home. However, some gems get past my ignorance and I start cursing myself for not paying more attention to what is going on.
Yana Blinder is one of those gems. Apparently she is quite eccentric, was auditioned for the Russian edition of "Voice" (or whatever the series of these shows are called), but didn't really make it past the judges. And it doesn't really matter, because she is incredible.
Her recently released EP Flowers is the best example of quality indie-pop, with a very smart production, gorgeous vocals and a variety of influences ranging from electronica to soul. You can stream the whole EP here, but for now enjoy "Flowers".
