It's been forever since the first track I click play on on a given day perfectly matches what I was looking for. Ghostpoet's third album Shedding Skin is out and the track which I started the day with was the title track off that record.

The first chords of "Shedding Skin" feel like an injection of some black and dense liquid in your veins. Lay down, press that play button and wait for those mellow sounds to completely take over your body.

The intensity of Obaro Ejimiwe and the Belgium jazz singer Melanie De Biasio's voices is a mix between monologue and beautiful melodies, which makes the experience even more realistic. Not sure why, but there's something utterly heavy about the track. I've been listening this on repeat for an hour before even starting those lines and I still feel I haven't completely grasped the concept behind the darkness they try to create.

But lets move with the record itself. I have to say it took me a while to start paying attention to his music, I guess just a bit after the release of his second album Some Say I So I Say Light? That being said, there is a certain and very sensible change in terms of sound direction when it comes to this record and having the chance to listen to the record a bunch of times, I must say I seriously like that. One, its always good to see artists evolve and two - the overall sound of the new record got me from the start.

We already shared with you the first single called "Off Peak Dreams", so feel free to stream it here. Besides that, if there's anything I would highlight is the mind-blowing collab with Nadine Shah - "X Marks The Spot".

The record is the first in a while I enjoyed from - to and I would seriously recommend it to everyone who's looking for something unusual.

Stay up to date.
