We've been following Heptagram's 3rd full-length album journey since the 30th of April when the Bulgarian five-piece led by multi-instrumentalist Daniel Ivanov dropped their psychedelic "Shaman's Dance". Summer's follow-up "Divions" sent listeners into... well, I think this sums it up pretty nicely.

If Tame Impala and Khruangbin were to do a summer-inspired album, then "Divisions" would sound like the opening track

And then we got thrown into the rather intimate world of "Hologram". Today, however, those separate bits and pieces are combined into a whole universe. The universe of Laval.

As someone who has been a listener for a while, I can safely say - Laval is Heptagram's most versatile release so far. The record does not hold back when it comes to experimentation and you can hear the guys venturing out into new conceptual dimensions.

After 3 full listens of the record and countless replays of the previous singles, my current chart is topped by "The Other Side of You"... with "Mantrick" coming up as a close second. There's a scent of A Perfect Circle in this track and that's my Achilles heel.

"Mantrick" and album's title track is definitely a trip. Daniel's voice feels like an echo from outer space. A friend and I were driving across Bulgaria's mountains yesterday and the hang drum plus delayed guitars were the perfect fit for the rusty forest backgrounds and cliffs we were passing by. I felt happiness in its full form.

Stay up to date.
