Alice Phoebe Lou, or some like to deem her "Berlin's best-kept secret" is a real treat. I was lucky enough to enjoy an intimate performance by her on the corner of the quaint cobbled streets of Neukolln, which really brightened up the otherwise dreary day.

You could tell she was where she felt at home, in a small crowd, not shying away from making eye contact with the audience. She kept commenting on how quiet everything was; it was as if the city had silenced just to take a listen to what stories the traveller had to tell. As one would expect from such a free spirited and down to earth character, the songs she performed were painfully simple, raw and thought-provoking.

Alice Phoebe Lou has been putting up several shows this year which have, and are due to take place in Berlin's planetarium (a beautiful parallel with her latest album's title Orbit) and unfortunately I have not had the funds to make any of these shows. Then the other day she posted on her Facebook that she would be doing a free show to help promote the Crowdfunding Campaign Intekular. They are an organisation which aim to train refugees to become integration guides to then support employers, helpers and refugees living and working together in Germany. It is a fantastic cause and you can help support them here.

I have chosen a song from Alice Phoebe Lou that is a little different from the music she normally plays as it has a slightly more electronic touch to it. Alice Phoebe Lou collaborated with fellow South African artist Thor Rixon on this track titled "Death pt II" - have a listen, you will not be disappointed!
