Life + Death = Duality.
That's the concept Neal Calvin Peterson is working with in Duality, which stands as the first EP in a trilogy - titled Infinite Religions - of conceptual albums. In Neal's interview with The Current (which is really interesting and worth a read!) he talked of how inspired he was by the coexistence of religions he observed on a solo trip to India and Nepal. There are three tracks on Duality - the "developing, birth-like" track "Life", the more pensive counterpart "Death", and the independent track "Duality", which is the result of layering the first two tracks (each exactly three minutes and forty-six seconds long) on top of each other.
The beautiful execution of this cerebral and technically complicated concept results in a pretty amazing listening experience.
Mirrors, the second EP of Infinite Religions, is available here; the third and final EP will be released in 2015.
