The number of twists and turns we're acquainted with on "Passed Me By" creates the kind of listening experience hinged on the beauty of unpredictability.

Instrumentally "Passed Me By" boasts elements of chamber pop and folk that are woven together seamlessly with epic strings and lavishly arranged keys. I love the fact that the rhythm of the drums transform in an off-kilter manner by the time we reach the first chorus. The second chorus also takes on a different form with the key of the track smoothly shifting to evoke different emotions. It'd be wise to keep a close ear on the lyricism too by virtue of Byland's compelling songwriting.

“Passed Me By" was written as a personal commitment to being present, in the moment, and in my body. I often subconsciously think that I have all the time in the world to do want I want to do and become who I want to become. I don't.
