Born in the deep southern coastal city of New Orleans, Chrishira Perrier’s been a product from the very start of a region bursting with musical culture. Cutting her teeth as a vocalist in the Gospel scene of her local ward eventually brought her to tapping into a colorstorm of New Orleans music. Among her hard work as a young touring artist, her emergence has been defined by work with gospel legends Davell Crawfored and Craig Adams to brass funk heavy-hitter Trombone Shorty.

With a mission to bring her unique experiences and original style to life, she's looked to funk and r’n’b guitarist turned producer Andrew Block. Block, who’s built his name performing with the likes of Dumpstafunk to Gramatik and funktronica element The Russ Liquid Test, has had a vision to showcase the limitless local talent of New Orleans. He built a recording studio, which spiraled out into a record label aimed at this exact vision. And for a rather serendipitous alignment, record label Neutral Sound, founded by Block along with Mike Iannatto (aka producer Cobrayama), they officialy bring their label to life with Chishira Perrier’s debut single “A Day Like Today”.

In this nostalgic recollection of innocence and simple beauty, Chrishira Perrier captivates listeners with a wave of gospel reminiscent of childhood wonder, filling our glass full of joy. We see through the lense of Chrishira, exploring feelings embedded deep in us. Smooth, yet commanding, we're shown to respect our curiosities with a bouquet of swing-time gospel and soul. Diverse influence from Aretha Franklin to Lauryn Hill, has assembled a rich pallet of goose bump inducing styles, from funk and soul to gospel to electronic music.

Her recent emergence in the dance music scene has bore unprecedented fruits, effectively influencing the sound of Detroit’s own future funk heavyweight GRiZ as well as his live band. She’s currently a touring artist for GRiZ and has seen recent features alongside electro hip hop soul producer Manic Focus on euphoric track “Special”, where she sings with her own daughter. Now, her recent feature in Gramatik’s “Requiem for Peace” alongside Waka Flocka and Anomolie seals her as a household name in the electro funk and soul world.

With this in her back pocket, Chrishira pushes forth boundaries in “A Day Like Today”, which is co-written by Trombone Shorty’s Josh Connelly and Andrew Campanelli of The Revivalists and features Nigel Hall of Lettuce as well as John Culbreth and Nick Ellman of Naughty Progressor. Duly marking this career monument with even more clout, Perrier recruits a whole team of seasoned producers and musicians who go all-in on bringing out her best side for this debut.

Expect more originals from Chrishira Perrier in the near future under the Neutral Sound label. Until then, stream her debut single on all major platforms here.
