The opening seconds of "More Than Okay" set a mellow scene, drawing out long Rhodes chords that hover above a pillowy, close-mic’d drum kit that sounds like it's right up on you. There’s a live jazz bass noodling around, finding little corners of space between snare cracks to stretch out. The mood from the start is chill without slumping into a super serene sound that lulls you to sleep. It's an easy, after-hours cruise through the city after a stressed-out day at work.

Producer arranger Andreas Breivogel, working under his cool.of.day alias, pieces together a sound that feels both at-home and quietly elevated as he puts his own spin on chillhop music. His lane runs somewhere between straight-from-the-crates hip-hop and mellow funk—pulling you in with a nod, never a shove.

As the track opens up, the guitar lays in a few golden lines, wrapping around the warm Rhodes keys and giving the groove extra shine. The beat shifts subtly. A sax eases in, swapping gentle riffs with the keys as the bass slips into a looser groove in the middle stretch. By the end, the whole "band" locks in one last time, leaving behind a trace of sunlight on the exit.

If "More Than Okay" marks Andreas “cool.of.day” Breivogel’s shift from spacious ambient zones to late-night hip-hop loops, he’s definitely stepping up with a dope opening statement.
