I love discovering music on my own iPod - I always feel a bit awkward for always skipping the track and then after a few months (or even years) realizing that it is very good indeed. Makes me want to apologize to the band.
This tune fits perfectly current melting hot weather. Afro-beats, slight reggae feel to it and mellow vocals that can't help but remind me of Beach House, which is not a bad reminder at all. Also Vampire Weekend immediately pops up in my head. And don't you just love the seagulls in the background when the tracks starts?
I'm too close to a complete meltdown to do my homework and research about who Dirty Gold are, but I'm preeetty sure they are from California.
The track is easy and laid-back, so if you are heading to the beach soak in some of "California Sunrise" feel.
