Electronica can be used for both relaxing and spacing out and dancing as showcased in the music of contemporary artists like Bonobo. Nowadays people use the term electronica when they want to classify electronic music that’s not primarily made for dancing as its rooted in dark, ambient and downtempo sounds. It has often been interchangeably used with the term IDM (intelligent dance music).
