Two minutes ago, right after I wrote the above, I just found out that Ken Ate My Homework is actually the other half of TIBASKO - a duo we've covered extensively on Stereofox. I had a look at his face for a while, and I kept thinking, I swear I know this face! Now that I've placed a face to a name, the sonic direction of this comes across as quite a surprise. Ken Ate My Homework possesses a groove that feels tropical and is heavily embellished with a summer charm.
The Brazilian sample here not only accentuates the above sentiment, but it also breathes life into the experience thanks to the vocals. Trumpets add a dramatic touch just before the drums roll in, and when they eventually do, he carries the warmth of the Brazilian sample into dance-floor territory without sacrificing the track's organic vibrancy.
