The latest release by Magic Mushworm "Wasteland Stroll" catches me by complete surprise. In the intro, we think it's heading towards a chillhop route, but moments later, we're introduced to something else.
Austria-based producer Magic Mushworm started releasing music last year, and in a short space of time, he has managed to craft quite a fascinating brand of chillhop. On "Wasteland Stroll", bright synths and unexpected variations keep the track engaging while the drums offer a slick bounce for us to seamlessly nod to. Towards the chorus, a soft, vocal-like lead enters the mix, thus adding a gentle emotional lift that contrasts beautifully with the groove. This is one of the best mixtures between lofi and electronic music that I've heard in a long while.
