I remember stumbling across Common Saints almost two years ago (with "Idol Eyes") and my jaw dropped.
The psychedelic soul project, led by UK multi-instrumentalist Charlie J Perry, now joins another wonderful London artist - singer Olympia Vitalis. Their first official collaboration is called "December Sunshine," and it would be your best companion to fight the blues of the upcoming cold months. Olympia shares,
"December Sunshine" was written in the dead of the British winter when I was wearing a couple layers and thermals in the studio. It’s about when the warmth you crave in the winter is in the form of a person you love. Charlie and I listened to Marlena Shaw’s The Spice of Life and really old-school soul records before we made this and so once the song had been made, we wanted to emulate that in the sonics, hence its slightly more vintage mix than the other songs.”
The vintage-inspired alt-soul gem carries the sunniest vibes and a lot of groove, with organic instruments and warm vocals. Just can't go wrong with that.
