"Sounds like summer, somewhere." That was my first interaction with the smooth remix S-Pazz crafted for Ral Ston and their lush single "AfterGlow". An accurate description, if you ask me. One that feels it doesn't leave much more to the imagination, yet as soon as those spacious horns and flutes start pouring into your ears, you'll find yourself in complete awe. Imagine a tasty blend of St. Germain and berlioz with a sprinkle of early Bonobo (think Dial M For Monkey vibes). Yeah, sounds good, right?
The Parisian electronic duo is known for blending organic textures with subtle sensibility and has soundtracked a number of great evenings on the dancefloor. Their love for analog jazz and influences ranging from classic Chicago house to Afro influences is evident in their catalog, which I had the pleasure of exploring these last few days.
With this remix, they've conjured a warm, slow-burning jazz house cut that feels both effortless and deeply intentional. I appreciate the feel of live instrumentation weaving through the whole composition, all perfectly anchored by a loose, improvisational pulse that never loses its sense of direction.
