So it is Thursday and I wanted to contribute today with a throwback to one of my favourite, if not favourite, remixes ever.

Around 4 years ago Ghostly released this remix by Shigeto of Sufjan Stevens's "Futile Devices" and what a combination that is... The original track is my personal favourite Sufjan track and it is only 2 minutes long, but it captures the most honest and intimate expression of love I've heard. Sufjan's vocals are just heavenly and the atmosphere he creates is one I believe everyone who has been in love can relate to.

Normally I am sceptical of musicians even approaching the challenge of remixing such a perfect song, but Shigeto definitely managed to capture the essence of the track and expand it throughout the realms of his own music. He kept the elements that bring the intimacy - piano and vocals, and added an eclectic layer of textures that highlight the emotions brought on by each line. And then half-way through come the bass licks, which  deliver that missing dimension of sonic depth to the original adding up to a true benchmark remix.

I often come back to this one so thank you Shigeto for your magic. Hope you guys enjoy as well!
