I was happy to discover this incredibly soulful, intimate, and emotionally authentic rap/R&B ballad by Brooklyn-based rapper and songwriter Sydmac, written as a vow to his wife, whose favorite flower inspired the song.

Built around the refrain “Beautiful Sunflower, Beautiful Love,” the record compares the flower’s natural turn toward the sun with the way two people continually turn toward one another. It instantly drew me in with its raw, minimalistic production, emotional delivery, and irresistibly groovy basslines.

“Her favorite flower is the sunflower, and I wanted to honor her beauty in the same way we admire the flower - its warmth, its strength and the way it turns toward the light. This song is a vow: words I have placed into the world that I never want to take back.” - Sydmac.
