Heavily inspired by the golden era of hip-hop and the unmistakable East Coast sound of artists like A Tribe Called Quest and Pete Rock, the intern’s new collaboration with Hamburg-based turntablist and beatmaker Chinch 33 feels like a lifeline for anyone nostalgic for that era.
Growing up exposed to hip hop by his brother and the skating culture he was part of, the intern picked up drums at a very young age, which eventually led him to explore the depths of jazz. All of this seems like the perfect premise for him to excel at crafting dusty, jazz-soaked grooves and creating a special sonic link between our generation and the greatness of the 90s.
