This next gem is an ode to New York City and the dopest way to start your day. I went to play basketball again and was spinning this track on my way to the court, feeling cool and all that. It certainly added some extra spice to my game yesterday!
Heavily inspired by the golden era of hip-hop and the unmistakable East Coast sound of artists like A Tribe Called Quest and Pete Rock, the intern’s new collaboration with Hamburg-based turntablist and beatmaker Chinch 33 feels like a lifeline for anyone nostalgic for that era.
Growing up exposed to hip hop by his brother and the skating culture he was part of, the intern picked up drums at a very young age, which eventually led him to explore the depths of jazz. All of this seems like the perfect premise for him to excel at crafting dusty, jazz-soaked grooves and creating a special sonic link between our generation and the greatness of the 90s.
The vibe of "Garden Of Love" is immaculate. Bump this one loudly.
