Goya Gumbani is a true powerhouse when it comes to bringing soulful, jazzy grooves into hip hop.

Today we celebrate his brand-new 5-track EP, Bean Pie, released via our mates at Ghostly International. The release is coming in hot after his recent collab with Hungarian jazz band Jazzbois, "Do Better".

What I love about the EP is its punchiness and the fast-paced feel. It masterfully brings together different ideas, moods, and snapshots channeled through the prism of Goya. Co-produced alongside Joe Armon-Jones, Franky Bones, Blk Deco, and Velvetian Sky, the project feels like a handful of loose ingredients thrown into the same pot, yet somehow coming together beautifully. A little less gumbo, a little more creative freedom.

"These songs came from different moments. Some are fresh, some have been sitting around and changing shape with me. They each have their own flavour, their own little world. Somewhere along the way, I started thinking about them like the different beans that go into a bean pie, separate things, picked up at different times, but once you put them together, they become something else," the talented Brooklyn-based songwriter shares.
