Smoothness & feel-goodness (if there's such a word) go so well, hand in hand.
The finest example that encapsulates this comes from Dutch singer-songwriter and guitarist TOINE and it's called "True Love".
What makes you fall in love with it is the synth & drum groove at the beginning but when the soulful vocals kick in... it all becomes absolutely perfect.
The song tells a story "about the emotional memories of the moments and places which he shared with his ex-love". But you can feel the hopefulness in both the lyrics and the melodies - "because true love will always find its way".
