Few weeks ago, David Pusztai a.k.a. Shifting Reality sent us his latest EP Naive Audacity. It is embedded in a solid cinematic framework with ambient and post-rock elements. What pleasantly surprised me (apart frome the EP itself) is that music to David is a hobby. His main occupation is molecular biology and this is just damn impressive. Considering the quality sound of his EP, I might ask him to send me some of his scientific papers.

Naive Audacity opens with a short track, a bit more than a minute long which is the prelude in my opinion to the pearl of this EP. What follows are the vast ever-green ambient fields, wistful, airy vocals and post-rock bliss.

The third and last track serves as an open end to Naive Audacity. The dark and heavy ambient reminds me so much of the movie Valhalla Rising. The film takes place in 1000 AD, life is short, nasty and brutal, there is almost no dialogue yet every scene captures your full attention as you are being completely dominated by the film's mood. If I can put in this way, "Doubts of the Devil" is my first audio deja vu.

Stay up to date.
