Meet The Team - Darius

It's time for the second edition of our Meet The Team series. As I said in the first feature where we spoke to the legendary Colin:

...the idea behind it is to shed more light on all those amazing boys and girls from around the world sharing their music taste with you on a daily basis here at Stereofox.

Today's highlight is someone who usually stays away from the "lights". You would never see his name under a post, but without Darius that whole thing called Sterofox would just not exist.

Half Italian, half Dutch, brought up in Costa Rica and... yeah, I always get lost beyond this point, Darius is a personal friend of mine from the days before starting this website. I am not sure how a techy guy ended up in Groningen where I studied, but for some reason he was always around in the student house I was living and we quickly became friends despite his notorious awkwardness ( <3 ). Joke aside, he's someone I've relied on all these years not only as a friend, but as a person behind this project.

Nothing but respect! Now it's time to have a little chat with him.

 So, Darius - let's do this. How often do you think to yourself "God damn it, Ivo - I told you so."?

Not so many. I bet less times than your mom ;)

Umm...

Why did you initially join the project and how have you stayed so motivated for 3 years? What's your favourite thing about being part of Stereofox?

I joined because it's rare to find a group of people wanting to invest effort into something that will not return a monetary reward. I wanted to be part of this entropic movement. Just kidding, doing it for the adrenaline.

I really love all the knowledge and the friends I've made from around the world!

What's your favourite feature on Stereofox?

A post by Alex from last year - a collaboration between Loner and Kosikk. Powerful stuff.

What has been the biggest challenge whilst building the platform and what would you like to add next?

Getting accepted by Google as an Ajax site. That was a pure pain. What's next? Umm, a mobile app would not hurt… but I think improving the personal playlist is more realistic.

Given the fact that I always bash your music taste, today I will bury the hatchet. If you were to be a writer for a day, what's the one track you would love to share with the Stereofox community and why?

Cause it's electro swing and electro swing is like coffee - makes me code better.

For the record - that choice was quite the surprise. Now I look like an asshole. Trust me, he had sent me some very questionable stuff.

You're seriously obsessed when it comes to healthy food. Like seriously obsessed. Now it’s your time to shine. What's the number one advice you would give to whoever is reading this?

Drink fruit, alcohol is overrated.

What do you do outside of Stereofox? How does your average day look like?

I make breakfast for my GF, > code > lunch > The wheel of time > Gym > local markets > XXX > dinner.

And what’s one thing that the other team members don't know about you?

I wear 2 sets of glasses & palm gloves when I'm on the computer.

Not weird at all.

Any last words?

For a hipster, Ivo is a pretty decent debugger (always finds errors).

With all seriousness - the dude is a great friend and a coding machine and built a kick-ass website, so on the behalf of the whole team - thx buddy! You're the man!
