Melbourne born and bred, Tim Shiel’s singular production style blends samples and found sounds with contributions from a seemingly endless pool of close collaborators, shifting and fusing dance and electronica genres with each release. Known as a fearless champion of independent and creative music, Tim has been the host of triple j’s left-field music show Something More since 2014, and also currently hosts Double J’s daily Arvos program, the highest-rating digital radio show in Australia. Among his many former lives include a globe-trotting stint as the primary multi-instrumentalist in Gotye’s touring band, a series of critically acclaimed indie video game soundtracks, a stint packing CDs at one of Melbourne's most well-trodden duplication plants, and industry roles as BIGSOUND festival co-programmer and Australian Music Prize judge. He has studio credits on releases by Flight FacilitiesBen AbrahamWrabelHachiku & Planete, and remains the driving force behind artist-run music collective Spirit Level.
