Despite the fact that indie hasn't been my main genre for a few years now, there's nothing more satisfying than finding a really good gem in the genre.
Excited to share with you Bill Nickson - a 22 year old singer-songwriter the UK. His debut single "What To Say" (released via The Label Recordings) brings together 90's nostalgia, classic indie rock sound and bits lo-fi bedroom pop. It's sort of early Becks meets Waxahatchee, if that makes sense.
The track really brings up so many teenage memories, not sure why. It just sends me back in time and while it carries some sort of romantic hopeless, I could smile widely all the way through the whole song. You know what this reminds me of? Those time capsules people tend to bury and which are meant to be opened sometime in the future, years later. Interesting and mellow-fully beautiful.
Also, adding that banjo (if I'm not mistaken) sounds like such a good fit. Hats off, sir.
