Montreal's Half Moon Run finally return with some new material and bizarrely, it's a little piece of psychedelic weirdness ................ to which I'm slightly obsessed.

Lets be honest, I've been a massive fan of these boys for a while - long before their 2012 debut album "Dark Eyes" finally landed off the back of their hugely successful debut single "Full Circle". So it stands to reason that having spent the best part of 4 years with only 12 HMR songs for company, the odds of me being anything other than complimentary about any new material would have been stacked.

With all that said, I wasn't really expecting "Trust". Yes it's still familiar with the unmistakable vocals of Devon Portielje but its definitely a change in pace and complexity from "Dark Eyes". I'm probably 30 or 40 listens in and I still have no idea where the track starts, finishes or what actually happens in-between. With the accompanying announcement that the bands second album "Sun Leads Me On" will land on the 23rd October, "Trust" is revealed as the albums closing track which probably gives us an indication that the change of pace will be felt but maybe not so concentrated when digested within a full new compliment of tracks (13 in fact).

"Sun Leads Me On" has been a long time coming, so we kind of know that the guys have pushed for quality rather than quantity (typical for a label like Glassnote). "Trust" is a sign that the patience should pay off.

"Sun Leads Me On" is released through Glassnote Records on the 23rd October and you can catch the guys on tour in Europe this Autumn. http://www.halfmoonrun.com/
